Freedom of Information Publication Scheme
Under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 all public authorities are obliged to adopt and maintain a publication scheme. The purpose of the Scheme is to ensure that a large amount of information is readily available to members of the public i.e. without the need for specific consideration under the Freedom of Information Act, and to inform the public of the extent of the material available.

Equality schemes
The OLSCC is neither bound by the general statutory duty to promote equality, nor the specific duty to publish a scheme. The OLSCC is, however, committed to delivering a service that subscribes to the aims of the general duty. OLSCC staff are Ministry of Justice (previously Department of Constitutional Affairs) employees and are covered by the Ministry of Justice schemes and its duty on employment.
